Not just another driving school !

What is Pass Plus?
Pass plus was conceived by the goverment and had the backing of major insurance companies as a way of allowing young drivers to gain more experience with modern driving and traffic volumes this would then bring down the rising number of road casualties amongst young drivers. Many new drivers feel that having passed the driving test they are then as good as any other driver on the road, sadly this just isn't the case. New drivers may have had tuition on modern driving techniques but their experience is limited and their reactions to certain road situations is limited. Statistics show that 1 in 5 new drivers have an accident in their first 6 months of driving, 17 to 20 year old males are more likely to have an accident than females from the same age group.
The Pass Plus consists of a minimum of six hours coaching in towns, rural roads, motorways, darkness and bad weather, this is more advanced than the pupil would have undertaken during their normal driving lessons. The course is delivered in car with a registered Pass Plus instructor of the pupils choice, there is no test at the end but a certain level of acheivement is required to obtain the certificate, this can then be submitted to your insurer and may allow a discount on your car insurance.
Motorway Driving

Statistics have shown that there are less crashes on a motorway than there are on normal urban roads but to say that it was easier to drive on our motorways would be foolish. Vehicles travel at much higher speeds for longer periods which in turn makes the car handling much more sensitive so any misjudged overtaking manouevre or lane change can have catostrophic and fatal consequences. During your Pass Plus course you will be coached on your ability to read and react to developing road situations ahead of you, your awareness and reaction to those behind and to the side and your skill entering and exiting busy and sometimes congested motorways. The ability to watch and anticipate the movement and speed of other roads users can keep you out of harms way and ensure safe driving for life.
Rural Roads

Rural roads have shown to have the most incidents and fatalities amongst young drivers simply because most have a national speed limit of 60mph. At speeds like this they simply take away a drivers reaction time, young drivers have an immortal attitude so when you put them on a rural road the outcome can be devistating. Take the picture above, if you were travelling at 60mph when approaching the right hand bend in the far distance would you be able to react if you came across a horse rider or slow moving tractor? The answer is no. The Pass Plus takes you on to roads such as these and narrower lanes, here you wil be taught the skill of gaining clues as to what lays ahead, the right approach and positioning and again as in all aspects of driving, the actions of others. We all like to take a drive in the country away from the queues, make yours a safe one.
Town Driving

Urban roads are a haven for minor bumps, bashes and rear end shunts as road volumes increase and patience wear's thin. You would have in the course of your driving lessons completed many hours of town driving from queues to roundabouts, the Pass Plus extends that to more complex road systems and you will be taken onto more difficult junctions such as gyratories, multi laned one way systems and the more obscure road signs and markings. UK roads are full of irritated and ignorant drivers so you are assessed on your defensive driving techniques and shown ways in which to keep you out of harms way.
Wet Weather & Darkeness

We live in the UK so wet weather or even worse a dark wet night is inevitable, so be prepared. Many drivers simple don't adjust to the road conditions and allow more time and space and usually blame others around them for their own mistakes. Make sure you stay safe. At some point during your tuition you may have had a lesson in the rain, most pupils get nervous on their first wet lesson, how would you feel when doing it on your own for the first time. Pass Plus can extend your knowledge and abilities that will enable you to deal with our inclement weather. We can't garantee that you will get a wet Pass Plus lesson when the weather guys don't get it right but we will ensure that you receive adeqaute tuition be it theory or practical on wet weather and night driving.
